Basic Information

Caleb Arda (keh-lub·ar-duh) is Elvish for Silver Realm. This is where every Promedian in existence currently resides, until they are ready to be bonded. Once bonded, they leave Caleb Arda to go live in their new home. Caleb Arda is a mystical realm that is very similar to Earth in physical attributes, however, the Silver Realm has no sense of time. In an earthly sense, if a mortal were to try to understand the ways of Caleb Arda, it would seem as though it were frozen in time, never moving forward or backward, just existing. However, the inhabitants of Caleb Arda have the ability to move, live, eat, breathe, and ultimately exist, just not in terms with Earth’s sense of time. The following is some basic information about Caleb Arda and the inhabitants of this Realm:

The Creator: The creator is in a sense the “goddess” of the Silver Realm. She created the Promedians from the extra livers of Prometheus (read History), and is an all-powerful entity that is the bridge between Caleb Arda and Earth. She watches over all the Promedians, and takes part in the creation of new Promedians through the bonding process.

Promedians: Promedians are a canine-like creature more the size of a tiger than a wolf,  that has five subspecies, each named after a god or goddess to which its abilities and traits resemble. Promedians are very versatile creatures, living in almost every region on the planet. In the wild, Promedian females will travel in groups, called harems, of about 4 or 5 members, foraging for food and taking care of any pups they might have. The male Promedians travel by themselves or very rarely in pairs unless it is time for breeding in which they will join a harem for a short period of time.

Subspecies: There are five subspecies of Promedians, each with their own characteristics and attributes making them more capable to live in specific environments.

Zeus: The Zeus species is proud and arrogant. This Promedian has feathered wings, and four legs with two sets of paws. Their long furry tail gives them balance in flight as well as a more regal look. The Zeus species is usually dominant if in a group of mixed-species Promedians because of its lust of power. They are not very affectionate, however they are very protective of their pups, as they will do anything to protect their offspring and genetics to be passed on to the next generation. The Zeus species usually reside in the mountains, their wings and thick fur helping out in the colder, higher region, and they feed on any small mammals they can find lurking in the rocks.

Poseidon: The Poseidon species is a more fun-loving and playful Promedian. They have the capacity to breathe underwater as well as above water, however because of their fins and tails, one will rarely find a Poseidon Promedian on land. The Poseidons have two front legs with flippered paws attached to help with swimming, and a long tail with flippers on the end to push and guide them through the water at very high speeds. Their ears are finned, and have small hairs on them that help them pick up vibrations in the water, allowing them to guide themselves through the murky depths where their other senses are no use. Their diet consists of mainly fish and crustaceans, however they will also eat clams, mussels, and squid.

Demeter: The Demeter Promedians are very shy and reserved. They are very rarely seen in the wild, as they live deep in the forests around the trees and greenery, and are very good at staying hidden. The Demeter species is wingless, has four legs with paws attached, and long claws that aid in digging and scratching. Demeters, even though they are shy and withdrawn are very loyal when it comes to their companions and bonding partners. In the forest they feed on small mammals such as mice, rabbits, and squirrels, but they also are fond of roots and berries found by digging into the earth.

Hephaestus:  The Hephaestus species is known for being unpredictable and somewhat dangerous. They are the only known Promedian species that has a special “power” or “gift” and that is that they have the ability to somewhat control fire. Hephaestus’ cannot make fire do anything, however their bodies repel fire to the extent that they can never be burned; fire cannot physically touch them. This leads to the region in which the Hephaestus species resides, and that is near and around volcanoes. This region of the earth matches their fiery personalities, as Hephaestus’ are known for having very short tempers. The Hephaestus species has a long mane that protects their head and neck when fighting, as well as four legs with paws and sharp claws to help them dig at rocks, and fight. Their diet consists of lizards and any reptiles they can find lurking within the rocks near and around the base of the volcanoes in which they live.

Hephaestus 1, Hephaestus 2, Hephaestus 3

Hades: Not much is known about the Hades species in the personality department, as they are mostly found deep within the dark confines of caves, and very rarely seen. Similar to bats, Hades’ are nocturnal, have webbed wings, and very poor eyesight. However, their poor eyesight is made up for by their huge ears which they use to hear within the darkness of the caves. They feed on bugs (and ironically bats), and rarely come out of the cave in which they were born.

Bonding: Bonding just refers to the process in which a person adopts, buys, captures, etc. a Promedian. The Promedian’s new “owner” is referred to as its bonding partner. When a Promedian changes its status (going from wild to adopted, owned by one person to owned by another person, etc.) a bond occurs between that Promedian and its new owner that keeps the Promedian in the possession of that person.

Breeding: Breeding between Promedians results in 1 to 4 pups, but more often it is 3 or 4. Within subspecies, Promedians of different subspecies can breed, however the pups inherit one trait when it comes to subspecies, they cannot be mixed. For example, the breeding of two Poseidon Promedians will result in Poseidon pups, but the breeding of a Poseidon and a Demeter will result in a random mix of Poseidon and Demeter pups, not Poseidon-Demeter mixed pups.

Naming: Promedian names follow the format “______’s _________” and can be any words in those blanks, however most Promedians receive their names based on their personality, physical appearance, or sometimes subspecies. When a suitable name is hard to pick, it is easy to create a name based on a mix of their parents’ names. For example: two Promedians are named “Gold’s Ember” and “Light’s Shadow”. Their pups can be named anything following the format based on their personality or physical appearance; or if names are still eluding the new bonding partner, you can mix the parent’s names: “Gold’s Shadow”, “Light’s Ember”, “Shadow’s Gold”, etc. No two Promedians can have the same name.

Genetics: Promedians each have their own set of genetics which help determine what their offspring will look like when two promedians breed. If you check out the homepage, there is a list of genetics and what each code means in terms of physical traits.
